Tailwind for you

YOU! Are my ‘why’. You, the pet owner are the heart, and the soul and the passion for what I do and why I do it with the most careful precision, and the deepest of empathies – as I bring the ‘art’ of practice into your local veterinary office. I’ve been asked so many times in my career – ‘you must just love animals’ – to choose this as a career path. Of course! I LOVE animals, I have 7 of my own! Yet, passion for what I do, how I approach it all, is because I know in my deepest reaches how much your pet means to YOU. The honor of being trusted with the restoration and the healing of your pet, and your belief and commitment to the sometimes long, but rewarding process of healing and return journey to the trail head, the dog park, the sunny ledge near the book nook both ‘grounds’ me and ‘humbles’ me beyond compromise. I am here for you and your pet – from the moment we meet until we achieve the healing goals we agree upon for your pet. I can do no other!

And, perhaps you may be curious regarding how we achieve your goals for your pet? This is our HOW: Tailwind Veterinary Surgery Care partners with your local veterinarian to achieve the therapeutic goals and healing trajectory for your pet. Much like a shoe in a sneaker, or a cap on a head – your family doctor will work with me directly or one of our other staff members to accurately determine the most customized, sensible and streamlined diagnostic and therapeutic options available for achieving the goals you may have for your pet. Some pet owners have expressed to me that they’re not always certain what goals are reasonable, achievable or even what goals one might have for the treatment course recommended. Well guess what? We will help you with all these variables and help make sense of this potentially stressful and awkward time for you and your pet. Whether relief of pain, restoration of function/athleticism or improvement in quality of life are your goals for your pet – we are committed to helping you realize them!

And finally, when? When are you ready, when are we ready, when is the time? Well…in a word? Now! As soon as the partnership between Tailwind Surgery Care and your family doctor has assembled the background diagnostic details necessary and fully informed you of the options available for achieving your goals – the safest time to consider surgery, the time most likely to achieve the best ‘outcome’ measures available, and the most motivated you’ll ever be to help your pet through the healing journey – is NOW! Dr. Haburjak and the staff of Tailwind will work passionately to meet and exceed your needs.

Guidelines for the post-operative care of pets undergoing FHO/FHNE and are provided for your review. Please note, that FHO/FHNE are procedures designed to relieve discomfort/pain associated with an otherwise un-repairable condition and by definition are considered ‘salvage’ – and whereas good, acceptable outcomes are achievable, normal functioning of the hip is generally considered unlikely. That said, we do want to provide a general guideline to achieve the highest level of performance that can be achievable. Many small dogs and nearly all cats can achieve performance levels that are near maximum/normal if some of these rehabilitation instructions can be followed. With a FHO/FHNE we always recommend professionally guided rehabilitation by certified experts, in addition to the instructions linked below.
